Pharex HealthCorp, in partnership with premier healthcare service provider Home Health Care, recently conducted “Old Age is Just,” a medical talk for senior citizens and medical practitioners focusing on the prevention, management, and treatment of diseases common among today’s elderly. The event was held at the new Pharex office at the UP-Ayala Land Technohub in Quezon City.
The scientific meeting was conducted by medical experts from Home Health Care and was aimed at enlightening elderly participants and medical practitioners on some of today’s top geriatric diseases. This is the first in a series of lectures lined up by Pharex and Home Health Care, a company that delivers home-based medical services and wellness programs to seniors and homebound individuals. Pharex HealthCorp, the top generic medicines provider has partnered with Home Health Care to develop a health care program which aims to educate senior citizens on diseases affecting their health.
“This talk is very timely as we aim to help our senior citizens in arming themselves with the latest medical updates on diseases affecting their health. Through our partner, Home Health Care, we can now educate our senior citizens on geriatric diseases and help them live longer, healthier lives and enable them to enjoy life to the fullest,” said Tomas Marcelo Agana III, president and chief executive officer of Pharex HealthCorp.
Besides Agana, present during the event was Dr. Mary Jean Villa-Real-Guno, Managing Director of Home Health Care.
During the forum, medical experts tackled Dyslipidemia, a disorder of lipoprotein metabolism, including lipoprotein overproduction or deficiency that contributes to the development of atherosclerosis, a condition in which fatty materials like cholesterol collects along the walls of arteries.
Second part of the talk discussed pneumonia among elderly people and how this disease poses a big challenge on physicians
Under the tie-up, Home Health Care would develop modules on medical topics such as rheumatism and chronic pain management, management of infectious diseases, diabetes and other chronic diseases, among other geriatric diseases, and disseminate such vital medical information to the elderly and medical practitioners through a meeting series that would be brought to select locations all over the country.
